Netflix still does not work for me. Even changing the user agent does not change that.
Netflix still does not work for me. Even changing the user agent does not change that.
Whan I chat in facebook inbox/messenger from macbook pro I can not attach a file because the click does not work with add file icon.
As the title says… It just displays the black screen that some folks see with Netflix, but Netflix works for me. Also fairly slow compared to native Safari or Chrome, even with most current software updates. Guess it deserves a pass on speed since it’s not really meant for browsing. 3 stars for the effort. Hope it gets better with time.
I love the concept and it works pretty well on YouTube and for m4v’s. However, it doesn’t for me on: * Netflix - Some error about my monitor or Airplay. Same error Safari gets. Netflix works on FF and Chrome. * Amazon Prime - Screen goes black. No video. * Xfinity OnDemand - Error that cookies are disabled. I’m hopeful the developer(s) will work through the issues. I did think it was confusing that Fluid Browser (which oddly enough took the name of Fluid App, a product that had a subcomponent call Fluid Browser). I spent twenty minutes to see if they were the same developer. (Nope.) It was also amusing that the help video page on Fluid Browser web site isn’t recognized as a first class video site. You have to manually adjust the screen to view it in float mode. Promising, worth three bucks, but not that useful for me quite yet. I don’t mind being an early supporter if the developer doesn’t abandon the project too soon. —— Update 3/4/16 Netflix and Xfinity OnDemand are now working for me in the latest release. Amazon Prime Video seems to lock the browser up. I love the new ability to choose the User Agent in Fluid>Preferences. It at least gives me a chance of getting the browser to work on finicky sites. Bumping to four stars for the latest release. I’ll go to five when the robustness issues are improved. My test case will be to attempt to play an Amazon Prime movie, then see if the browse back and reload buttons respond when the video play fails. Amazon Prime support is desirable but not mandatory for me, but supporting it is another way to make my test case pass resulting in the five star rating.
I keep this window relatively small and partially transparent on the corner of my screen with gmail open. Then I can keep an eye on my inbox without switching apps. Thus, I can stay ontop of high-importance emails and still keep working. Also, when conducting research, I love having an always-on-top web browser with no border. This is a very good idea for some situations and a very well done app. Worth the purchase.
Everything seems to work well on the app so far. It gets the job done and has proved to be useful/entertaining. The one really big problem is that the Netlfix page won’t work. It keeps trying to load the show then just says error and makes you sign out. Once this problem is fixed it will be a 5 star app.
This app is great from so many standpoints! The two ways I use it… Student: Using netflix and hulu to play while I’m researching and or writing papers. Especaially the tetious assignments, this makes the time fly much easier with the transparentsy of the app. I can watch my favorite show while keeping my word doc or other browser at full screen! This app works great. Professional: Being able to muli task without having to switch tabs back and forth is now a real thing! With the app I can edit my documents while recivieing real time info I usually have to switch to other tabs to find. Now I know the exact second something changes and don’t waste time having to go back when I think its been updated. Saves me so much time! Overall, this is a great addition to anyones life, just take 10 minitues to get used to it and you’ll use it all the time! Easily worth more than $3…
When i bought my Macbook Pro i struggled to between the standard screen size (13 in) and the larger screen (15 in), at the time opting for the larger screen because I wanted to have two screens available for both school and personal browers screens, microsoft office, or video playbacks. With an annoyingly large computer, I have now stumbled upon the Fluid Browers, essentially everything i wanted in a larger computer, but in a software. Now, Instead of splitting my screen between two different windows, I can have a browser in the background that is transparent to my open window. As a journalism major, the Fluid Browser has proven invaluable because I am now able to have my Word document open (to full screen) while having a video, or transcript still visually present in the background. The browser has plenty of practical applications that I’m sure I have yet to uncover, but for now, it is everything I was looking for.
Although there are a few bugs I love this app. I am sure they will fix them in the future. Using a MacBook Pro.. and Yosemite. works great, especially for Netflix. Bug fixes needed as of 03/07/2016 full screen expansion icon does not work. Clicking outside the viewer leaves a space at the bottom. Minimizing loses the window and it doesn’t return. I am still exploring its uses. But it’s a lot of fun at a good price.
Latest version broke image zoom support. Now if I drag and drop an image, I can’t click on it to be displayed on its original size; it always displays zoomed out.
what makes you think that having ‘Esc’ as a shortcut for closing window is intuitive? while on all other browsers, it’s a shortcut for exiting full screen. really frustrating. edited: seems like they fix it, raise the star to 4! keep up good work guys!
I worked as a front end developer thus, my life is browsers so Fluid app struck my curiousity. I’m a bit iffy on the morality of repackaging the webkit with a fancy UI. Fluid’s user-agent string reports interestingly as iOS but without touch events. While the default UA reports it as Safari 6.0, the support is essentially the same as Safari 9 desktop. Immediately a few real cons are apparent: Fluid doesn’t support any privacy setitngs, there’s no way to install popular JS tracking blockers like Ghostery or other useful plugins like 1password. Preferences are spartan, User Agent changing, clear cache and history, and really that’s about it as for setitngs of consequence. There’s also no development tools. Want inspect element? look elsewhere. Usuage is straight forward, its simply a browser that’s always ontop with an address bar that disappears. Clever, but perhaps not so much that it warrents it own price.
Best browser @app store!
Works with Netflix. With Comedy Central I just get a “Missing Plug-in” message. Hopefully they will keep adding support for other sites.
The app is a great idea. I downloaded it and tried to watch netflix using Fluid. It did not work. Even after changing all the settings I still cannot get netflix to work. That was the whole reason for buying the app.
Pros -Transparency is a good new feature -minimalist -clean UI Cons -No Web app support -No multiple tabs -Weird sizing issues Worth it tbh for the feature, its only 2.99
I only downloaded this browser so I can stream and watch movies while using my computer. The browser dosen’t support any streaming movie site like Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, …etc. I also like watching tech video podcasts, but it dosen’t support any of those either. In order to support streaming sites or video podcasts, the browser must be able to install adobe flash or have flash built in like the chrome browser. Since flash cannot install, the browser is useless for watching movies. However, if you have movies installed on your computer, you will be able to watch them because the browser allows you to access files on your computer. Providing they are in the right format. This browser is good for productivity work such as word documents, spreadsheets, etc, but not for entertainment.
Okay, so I download, install, open and then my Fluid proceeds to completely (F WORD IN CAPS) my computer. It wouldn’t close, no preferences. I had to force quit it in Activity Monitor because it wouldn’t even show up in the normal Force Quit menu. How in the….. If this App was a physical object I would be smashing it with a SHOTGUN. I’m at least glad I was able to finally delete this piece of (naughty word). Now to somehow get my money back. Thank you for getting me so angry I could UUGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Its a good idea and all but seems too buggy and not the best browser. It also is annoying when you cannot close it sometimes when in a video. All in all, Not worth how muhc it is priced as.
Inasmuch as I was able to hang it—and my whole machine— on first use, I can only recommend they continue to hack away at their vision.
